You know, it seems to be so *easy* to start up an online business these days, doesn’t it? It’s pretty cheap to get started and there’s tons of different business opportunities out there on that great big world wide web to choose from, online businesses are popping up everywhere.

But there’s a catch. Most of them won’t last their first year. Many not even six months.

Why?

There’s more to it than just slapping up a storefront or grabbing a product from some so called guru and reselling it to people. A lot more. And more and more these days it’s about trust. It’s about building great relationships with your customers, and your potential customers!

If a new company doesn’t go that extra mile to take care of their customers and go from being just a *customer* into a *loyal customer* (which means they’ll be more likely to buy something else from you in the future) they have every opportunity and means to just walk away. And that means you’re losing out.

How do you combat something like that? You must continually strive to build your list and then learn how to communicate effectively with them to create a bond of trust. The equation is simple, people are more likely to buy from someone again and again if they’ve built a level of trust in the relationship. Just like you’re more likely to take advice from your family and friends than some stranger on the street. It seems obvious, but it’s true and many companies are failing miserably at it.

Not only that, the really big thing that separates the mega successes from the losers is the ability to get your business working for you all by itself. That means, you find the technology and expertise you need from other people and leverage it to your own advantage.

That means that you, as the business owner, don’t have to be *there* all the time to run things.

I know it seems like a departure from the norm that you have to *work hard* to make money, but if you just drift with the paradigm shift and start to detach yourself from the operational details you’re going to free yourself and find the time (and energy) to grow your business even more.
